Many of our local pumpkin patches & apple orchards are open for the 2021 season! This means that there will be no shortage of pumpkin pie, apple cider, and jack-o’-lanterns! In other words, fall is here, again! Plus, is it really autumn if we don’t visit at least one pumpkin patch/apple orchard?
Visiting an apple orchard is one of the most fun things fall has to offer! To make the experience even better, you can bring your pup along with you! Having your dog around for these memorable events makes everything that much more exciting.
Not sure which pumpkin patch or apple orchard to visit in the Aurora or Newmarket area? Look no further than this blog! We will break down some amazing places you can visit and make your fall season one to remember.
Applewood Farm
Located about 30 mins away from Aurora and Newmarket, Applewood Farm is a great place to find some good apples for a pie, a cider, or just to snack on!
The farm’s apple-picking season is well underway, so you can expect to get your hands on some Ginger Gold and Macintosh apples. When arriving at the farm, a tractor will bring you and your family to the apple orchard or pumpkin patch so you can get to picking! Admission to Applewood Farm is $10, and each admission will get you one free pumpkin. Each additional pumpkin is $4.
You and your family are welcome to visit the farm between Wednesday and Sunday. The opening hours are 10 am to 5 pm Wednesday to Friday, and 9 am to 5om Saturday and Sunday.
The farm also grows strawberries during the summertime and has animal friends for you to meet and feed. The corn maze gives you a chance to explore and have some fun within the twists and turns! Before you go, be sure to check out the market area to purchase some local honey, maple syrup products, and butter tarts!
Pine Farms Orchard
This apple orchard has you covered with 21 varieties of apples! Pine Farms Orchard is your one-stop shop for picking apples off their famous kid-height dwarf trees! You will be able to grab a few varieties of apples if you visit the orchard now. There will be more available later in the month so be sure you check out their website to see which varieties are coming when! The cost of picking your own apples is $2.00 per pound.
When you’ve chosen all your perfect apples, be sure to check out the bakery for all kinds of pies, cookies, and pastries! They also have a café on-site where you can enjoy brunch with a friend, or a relaxing weekend lunch.
You can visit Pine Farms Orchard Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am-5 pm from now until October.
Homestead Orchards
Homestead Orchards is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a variety of fruits and vegetables. Located in Georgina, Ontario you can expect to find plenty of apples and pumpkins here! In addition to that, fresh corn is picked daily as well as asparagus. You can also pick up different kinds of Thornloe cheeses to add to your next meal!
The bakery includes many tasty treats from pies, to cheesecakes and scones! All these yummy treats are available daily in-store. You can also pick up some jams, jellies, and other preserves to add to your baked goods!
You can visit Homestead Orchards on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 am-4 pm for free!
Dixie Orchards
Dixie Orchards is guaranteed to provide you and your family with a fun day of wagon rides, exploring the sunflower fields, and getting lost in their corn maze!
You will have to make a reservation online for a date and time to visit Dixie Orchards. When you arrive, there will be plenty of apples and pumpkins for you to pick and choose from. Admission into the orchard is $3 per person. You can buy ready-picked apples for $10 per five pounds or $20 per ten pounds.
The sunflower fields are a great place to explore with your family and offer a perfect opportunity to take some gorgeous pictures with the sunflowers. You are permitted to bring your dog with you for a nice day out on the farm, but they are only allowed in the sunflower fields.
When you are ready to relax after picking the perfect apples and pumpkins, you can visit the market to check out their fall decor, seasonal treats, and of course the barkery!
You can plan a visit anytime between 10 am and 5 pm from now until October 31st.
