We take what we do very seriously, we completely understand the trust that people must have in us to hand over the keys to the two things that are most valuable to them. Their home and their pet. In order to provide the best care possible in every aspect of our business we are constantly taking courses, networking with other pet care professionals in our community and internationally. Are goal is to keep improving what we do and ensure your pet and home get the best possible care.
We have been members of PIJAC ( The Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada) for several years. The PIJAC is is the voice of the Canadian pet industry. As a not for profit, member based organization, PIJAC Canada advocates on behalf of the Canadian pet industry, while acting as a credible source of information and education for pet related businesses. They have great Pet Training Courses which I take when I can.
We have also been proud members of Pet Sitters International for many years. This is a wonderful organization that requires pet sitting companies prove they have insurance, bonding, pet first aid etc in order to be members. It also have a very expensive course to receive a Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting. This was an INTENSE course, covering everything you could possible think of regarding pets (dogs, cats, ferrets, chickens, horses, small caged animals, pigs etc etc). It included basic grooming, behaviour, health, medical terminology, nutrition, dog walking, how to properly clean a littler box, signs to look for in illness and so much more. The course also included everything to do with properly running a pet care business, policies, procedures.
A lot of our team members have also completed the Canine Attendant Course through Canine Foundations. This was an excellent course teaching us how to better read canine body language, to to recognize signs of trouble before they start and some canine self defence.
