Every now and then, a message from a client stops us in our tracks—not because it surprises us, but because it so perfectly captures what we believe in and we are thrilled that it is recognized.
Recently, a client reached out to thank us for helping with her post-surgery eye drops. One of our incredible team members stepped in to care not only for her dog, Charlie (who adores her), but for her as well. For six days, Lisa provided an extra level of care to ensure our senior client in Newmarket could heal comfortably and with peace of mind.
It was a reminder of something we’ve always known: we’re more than just dog walkers.
So, what is a dog walker?
For many, it’s someone who shows up, puts a leash on the dog, and heads out for a stroll. And yes, that’s part of the job. But at York Professional Pet Sitting and Dog Walking, we see it differently. For us, being a professional dog walker is about trust, responsibility, and genuine care for all pets and humans.
It’s about showing up on time, every time, with knowledge, compassion, and an understanding of both pets and people. It’s knowing how to handle everything from a nervous puppy to a senior dog with special needs. It’s understanding that sometimes, it’s not just the dog who needs a little TLC.
What sets professionals apart?
Professionalism isn’t just about being paid to do a job. It’s about systems, training, experience, and a deep-rooted commitment to doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching.
We’ve been in business for 25 years this year. . That’s 25 years of early mornings, late nights, snowy driveways, wagging tails, and tearful goodbyes. We’ve supported clients through surgeries, life changes, and loss. And we’ve celebrated milestones, new puppies, and adopted rescues right alongside our clients.
We care for pets, but we also care about people.
Our team knows that when we step into someone’s home, we’re not just walking a dog, we’re being trusted with a family member. That trust means the world to us. Sometimes, it means stepping up in ways that go far beyond the leash.
We don’t do it for recognition. We do it because that’s who we are.
To our clients: thank you.
Thank you for letting us be part of your lives. Thank you for trusting us to care for your furry (and sometimes feathered or scaled) family members. And thank you for reminding us, again and again, that what we do matters and makes a difference.
If you’re looking for a pet care team who sees the big picture—who walks dogs, cares for cats, mists a bearded dragon, yes, but also shows up with heart, professionalism, compassion and reliability—we’re here.
Because we’re not just dog walkers.
