Included in Every YPPS Dog Walk, Whatever Length you Choose

A trained YPPS team member
An employee, never a contractor. Insured, bonded and certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. Every member of our team is screened and trained to the same standard and works from the same detailed notes about your dog, so whoever arrives already knows their routine, their quirks and exactly how they like things done.

Health and behaviour observations
Your walker notes anything that seems off, from a change in appetite or energy to a limp or an upset stomach, and it goes into your visit report. Small changes are often the first sign of something worth watching, and they’re easy to miss when you see your dog every day.

A meaningful break
Time for your dog to relieve themselves, enjoy fresh air, and receive real mental and physical stimulation.

A visit update

Consistency with your training
We reinforce the cues and manners you’ve already taught, using calm, positive methods. Your dog hears the same words and gets the same responses from us as they do from you, so the work you’ve put in isn’t undone between visits.

A private neighbourhood walk

Time used the way your dog needs it
Walking, backyard time, play, companionship and indoor enrichment, balanced for your dog, the weather and how their day is going.

Benefits of Private Dog Walking
Movement that suits your dog
Regular, appropriate activity can help support mobility, muscle tone, a healthy weight and overall physical and mental wellbeing. Every walk is adapted to your dog’s age, energy and comfort.
A Calm Alternative to Doggie Daycare
Not every dog enjoys a busy group environment. Private walks provide exercise, enrichment and companionship without unfamiliar dogs, noisy surroundings or time away from home.
Personalized care and peace of mind
Routes, pace and activity are adjusted for your dog, the weather and what feels right that day. After every visit, you receive detailed notes and photographs so you know how your dog is doing.
Companionship and a welcome break
A visit at the right time of day breaks up long stretches alone and may help reduce boredom, loneliness, restlessness and some separation-related stress.
Get your day back
No more counting the hours while you’re out. Your dog gets a proper break in their day, and you get to enjoy yours, 365 days a year.
Enrichment and confidence
Sniffing, exploring and experiencing everyday neighbourhood sights and sounds engage your dog’s mind. Regular visits from familiar members of our team can also help them become more comfortable with trusted people outside their household.
Frequently Asked Questions

Who will come into my home to walk my dog?
One of our professional dog walkers, all of whom are YPPS employees (not independent contractors), will come to your home to walk your dog.
Our team members are covered by our dog-walking insurance, bonded and certified in Pet First Aid and CPR. They receive initial and ongoing training in dog behaviour, body language, health and safety, along with professional support and oversight from our office and management team.
We work as a team rather than relying on one person. Every team member is screened and trained the same way and works from the same detailed notes about your dog, so the standard of care does not change with the name on the schedule. It also means your dog’s visits never depend on one person’s health, holidays or car trouble.
How do you get into my home?
Most homes use a lockbox or keyless entry rather than handing over a key. You can buy your own lockbox and set the code yourself, or use one of ours.
Your code is stored in our encrypted system, and only YPPS management and the team member scheduled to care for your dog can access it. Nobody carries your key around between visits, and there are no key handovers between team members, which removes a genuine point of risk.
At the end of every visit the key goes back into your lockbox, or your electronic lock secures the home behind us.
You stay in control throughout. With your own lockbox or smart lock you can change the code whenever you like, and if you ever stop your service you simply bring the lockbox inside or disable the code you gave us. We also recommend that a local emergency contact holds a key, just in case.
Are your dog walks private or group walks?
All YPPS dog walks are private and one-on-one unless you have more than one dog in your household and they are comfortable walking together.
Your dog will never be placed into a group walk with unfamiliar dogs, transported to a dog park or let off leash during a walk. Off-leash activity is limited to your dog’s own securely fenced backyard.
Do I need a regular schedule, or can I request occasional dog walks?
You do not need a regular schedule. Occasional dog walks are always welcome, and we will do our best to accommodate them based on availability.
For pet parents who need the same days each week, recurring walks provide greater peace of mind. Your dog’s regular days and arrival window are reserved in advance, and recurring visits receive priority over occasional requests.
Can you walk nervous or reactive dogs?
In most cases, yes. Our dog walkers are trained to recognize canine body language, avoid known triggers and allow each dog to become comfortable at their own pace. We use only patient, positive-reinforcement-based care and never force an interaction.
We will discuss your dog’s history, triggers, routines and handling needs before care begins. Additional introductions can be arranged when needed. The safety of your dog, our team and the community will always guide the care plan.
If walks are genuinely stressful for your dog, a High Energy Backyard Play session may suit them better.
What time will my dog’s walk take place?
Dog walking is available seven days a week, 365 days a year, including statutory holidays. Our first visits begin at 7:00 a.m., and our final visits begin at 9:30 p.m., allowing us to support traditional workdays, shift workers and changing schedules.
Visits are scheduled within an agreed-upon arrival window rather than at an exact time. This gives our team the flexibility to deal safely with crazy traffic, weather and the changing needs of pets throughout the day.
What happens during bad or extreme weather?
When extreme heat, cold, storms or unsafe conditions make a normal walk inappropriate, we adapt the visit to protect your dog.
When it is safe, we will take your dog outside for a bathroom break and then spend the remaining time providing care indoors. Depending on what your dog enjoys, that may include play, enrichment activities, companionship, affection or the always popular extra belly rubs.
Your dog will always receive the full amount of time booked, even when it cannot safely be spent outdoors.
Can a dog walker help with separation anxiety?
Yes, a dog walk can help some dogs by breaking up a long period alone and providing exercise, mental enrichment, companionship and a predictable routine. These benefits can help reduce boredom, restlessness and some separation-related stress, making it easier for the dog to settle afterward.
However, true separation anxiety is a complex condition, and dog walking alone may not resolve it. Dogs experiencing significant distress may also benefit from guidance from their veterinarian or a qualified behaviour professional. We are happy to support an established care or behaviour plan when it can be followed safely.

Still have questions?
Not sure which option is right for your dog?
Not every dog loves a walk, and that’s alright.
Some dogs find the neighbourhood overwhelming. Others are reactive, recovering from surgery, or simply happier at home. A walk isn’t the only way to give a dog exercise, enrichment and company.
Our Backyard Play & Enrichment sessions do the same thing in the safety of your own fenced yard, at your dog’s pace and on their terms. If you’re not sure which suits your dog better, tell us about them and we’ll help you work it out.
